Reading electrical one line drawings | Eaton PSEC
19:13
Electrical one-line diagrams, or single-line drawings (SLD), are drawings that represent an electrical system by detailing the components, how they are connected, and the power flow. Follow along as Ellen Bachman, District Application Engineer, explains the critical role one-line diagrams play in designing, maintenance, and safety of electrical systems. Ellen starts off with an introduction to the fundamental symbols typically found in one-line drawings and an example power system. As we delve deeper, Ellen introduces components found in systems with motor loads and additional symbols which can add complexity. However, using an example power system, Ellen walks us through the power flow so you can easily follow along from utility service, through several components, and finishing at a switchboard. For a copy of the example power system and additional resources for electrical consultants, visit https://Eaton.com/consultants Thank you for watching one of our many educational videos on the topic of power systems.
